Vinted Members Express Frustration Over Size Updates
Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has revised its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel failing to inform all users about the change.
Digital Channels Response
Many shoppers and sellers are posting online claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category than originally posted due to the recalibration.
The company said the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.
They have suggested members to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Size Classification Updates
Before the change, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Member Experiences
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
A different user, located in England, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Platform Context
The service features exceeding 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options following member complaints.
